Hello Spruce Grove
My family has a farm west of Spruce Grove, and I have lived in the area just about my entire life.
In 2004 my mom and I decided to go into business together. When we were considering where to locate it, Spruce Grove just seemed like the perfect fit. In 2009 I met my husband to be and we chose this community to put our roots down.
So for the last 13 years I have been active in the community with my time as Past President and board member of the Chamber of Commerce. I have dedicated time building relationships with all 3 municipalities, lobbying Spruce Grove City Council, and staying in touch with residents on a daily basis. It was this time with the Chamber that lead me to really become passionate about the goings on in the City. I am the type of person to put my hand up when something needs to be done, and I feel that now more than ever there needs to be change in the Spruce Grove City Council.
We need leaders that engage with the community. We need leaders with a passion for this City and its residents. We need leaders that aren’t afraid to speak up.
I would like to earn your vote and be that change.
Leadership / Experience / Commitment
Things that I feel need to happen:
City Council needs to be more accountable and transparent.
They are our voice and it is their job to ask the questions and be informed and at the end of the day, the decisions that they make affect us all.
Safety in our community is always paramount.
We need to work together with residents and local law enforcement to figure out ways to maximize resources to ensure our community is taken care of.
We need to attract commercial and industrial businesses.
Residential growth is wonderful, but it has difficulty sustaining itself. We need a good mix of businesses and residential. I think we have a great mix of retail, but we are lacking in some other areas. The City needs increase its business friendly atmosphere.
Accessibility to all our business parks is essential.
With 3 railway crossings that can and have been blocked at the same time, gives me concern for overall community safety and sustainability.
We need a plan to ensure our financial stability is in tact.
I want to make sure our reserves are in good shape. We need to be able to provide the high levels of service that we have come to expect in Spruce Grove and balance that with good fiscal responsibility.
We need to make sure we work with our regional partners.
Going forward the landscape could change and we need leaders that are strong and practical and able to work with our neighbours to get things done.
We need to bring back the community spirit of Spruce Grove.
Many of you probably remember how it used to be. We used to have more engagement and openness with our residents and businesses. It feels like things are very restricted right now. I want to lead by example and really emphasize community. My door is always open, and I will do as much as I can to help foster family friendly living.
